The Story
From academic research to a public platform.
VCP began as a research project examining the relationship between cultural policy and social transformation in Saudi Arabia. The questions it raised — about identity, heritage, creative industries, and the role of institutions in shaping public life — were too important to remain inside academic papers.
The platform evolved into a space where those conversations could happen in public — with the people actually doing the work. Ministers, museum directors, artists, architects, filmmakers, educators, and cultural entrepreneurs: the voices that rarely appear together in the same room, let alone the same conversation.
VCP is not a news platform, a promotional channel, or a government initiative. It is an independent editorial project — Saudi in perspective, international in outlook — committed to the idea that the most important conversations about a society's future are the ones that happen while that future is still being decided.
What VCP Does

VCP is rooted in Saudi Arabia — in its history, its institutions, its creative communities, and the specific texture of its cultural transformation. The conversations are shaped by that context, not by how Saudi Arabia is perceived from outside.
The platform takes Saudi cultural life seriously on its own terms — its complexity, its contradictions, and its ambitions — rather than reducing it to a single narrative.

Saba Alkhamis is a researcher, writer, and cultural commentator whose work sits at the intersection of cultural policy, creative industries, and Saudi society. Her academic background in cultural studies and policy research gave VCP its analytical foundation; her conviction that these conversations belong in public gave it its form.
As host, she brings a rare combination of scholarly rigour and genuine curiosity — asking the questions that practitioners rarely get asked, and creating the conditions for guests to think out loud rather than simply deliver prepared positions.
